Why FPC?

Much like day to day life, the road to achieving your health and performance goals is accompanied by physical, mental, and emotional hurdles. We believe that when applied to human performance, fortitude describes an individual’s ability to overcome these obstacles. Through the process of dedicated physical training, an individual develops more than their physical potential, defining their character, and building resilience to adversity. FPC offers individualized, evidence-based training programs, along with the support and expertise needed to build strong and resilient athletes. Lauren and Simon are both NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists who have years of combined experience working with athletes of all backgrounds.

Lauren Higgins, M.S., CSCS, FMS (Co-Founder & Head Coach)

Athletes come in all shapes, sizes, and ability levels with different passions, goals, and obstacles to tackle. This is what I love about coaching, meeting an athlete where they are physically, mentally, and emotionally and helping them to achieve their health and performance goals.

With years of experience working with a variety of athletes competing in a multitude of sports, my goals as a coach are to:

1 – Listen and take a thorough assessment of each athlete’s physical development, training status, injury history, needs, and goals.

2 – Take an evidence-based approach to develop individualized, training programs.

3 – Educate athletes on training theory and methodology so they understand the ‘why’ behind what I prescribe.

4 – Help athletes achieve their performance goals, while encouraging balance in training and life.

As an academic I want my students to develop both inside and outside of the classroom, learning evidence-based practices derived from current research whilst maturing into functioning members of society through life experiences that challenge their character. My goals as a coach mirror this educational mentality:

1 – Above all, helping clients meet their performance goals through physiological, biomechanical, and personal development.

2 – While doing so, to educate clients about the methodologies we use, why we use them, and how they are building towards optimal performance.

3 – To promote an overall love and understanding of movement which will lead to sustained, successful training, competition, and general activity participation throughout the rest of their athletic career and/or life.
